Why?
Lack of oxygen
In enclosed spaces oxygen is quickly used up. We breathe it in, and
replace it with carbon dioxide. Lighting a cigarette, the burning
of a log fire, cooking, all result in depleting oxygen levels. When
oxygen levels fall, we become tired, lethargic and less productive.
Ventilation enables oxygen levels to be restored. Build
up of odours and other contaminants
Many normal activities result in the generation
of odours and other indoor air contaminants. Ventilation can either
introduce fresher air into the environment to dilute the contaminants,
or extract them to the outside environment.
Achieve
Charter compliance
An element of ventilation is required in those
premises seeking to achieve the highest level of compliance with
the Public Places Charter.
